In Mykolaiv, they chose to stay at home despite the war

“ I am here at home, so I will not leave”, launches Inna Koury. Installed in the basement of a building in Mykolaiv, in the south of Ukraine, she decided, with several of her neighbors, to stay in her city, despite the numerous Russian bombardments which devastated many civilian infrastructures.
“We make pancakes, bring jam, bring our homemade cans,” explains Inna Koury, who was a teacher until the start of the Russian offensive. On a table in this basement, a backgammon game board allows this small group of Ukrainians to maintain a semblance of normality in their daily life punctuated by aerial warning sirens.
