Show of force challenge for Emmanuel Macron during his first meeting, eight days before the first round

Emmanuel Macron is playing big this Saturday afternoon on the Arena stage in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), for his first and only campaign meeting before the first round. While he is certainly given the lead in the polls, he sees Marine Le Pen getting closer to him in the voting projections of the last few days.

For the candidate president, there is therefore no more time to lose after a start to the campaign which has caused some concern in his majority. This Saturday, it must regain momentum and breathe new life by mobilizing some 35,000 people expected in the largest covered hall in Europe, usually host to major sporting events or important concerts.

During the preparatory visit, Emmanuel Macron explained that he wanted a “more carnal stuff” than a traditional meeting, which will require ” Energy “ on stage, according to a video released by his campaign team.

After a first part “surprise”promised “interactive and collaborative”, he is expected on stage around 4 p.m., as the only speaker, for a speech of at least an hour. It will be “a political discourse, a social discourse, a discourse of unity”, advances his entourage to Agence France-Presse (AFP). Some 300 parliamentarians and 1,500 local elected officials are expected at the Arena, while more than 500 journalists are accredited: the meeting is a show of force.

This week, the candidate president repeatedly launched ” We don’t give up ! », during his two campaign trips to Dijon and then to Fouras. During these meetings with the French, he was encouraged to ” hold on “ but he was also challenged, sometimes sharply, on purchasing power, his balance sheet or the case of the use of the State to consulting firms, including McKinsey.
