Mobile radars detect nearly 2,500 speeding violations per day

The mobile radars detected 2,473 daily violations of excessive speed in Catalonia during a preventive campaign that was carried out from August 1 to 7, as reported by the Catalan Traffic Service (SCT).

The figure represents 4.6% of the 378,023 vehicles checked during those seven days. The Mossos d'Esquadra and 18 local police forces from all over the country, including that of the Urban Guard of Barcelonathey reported 17,309 drivers, 3 of which for criminal offences.

Of the total, 11,283 of the speeding vehicles were detected with devices from the Mossos d'Esquadrawhile the remaining 6,026 were by the local police.

The SCT recalls that in 2021, 11.8% of accidents involving victims in interurban areas had inadequate speed as a concurrent cause. This year, inadequate speed represents 10.5% of the total accident factors, adds the same source.

It should be noted that in order to detect violations related to speed, the Traffic Division of Mossos d'Esquadra it currently has 41 mobile motion detectors and 7 radar detectors.
