An important security device had been deployed for the fourth night in a row in the three municipalities, where the scuffles multiplied all night.

The IGPN seized of the investigation

Since the beginning of the clashes, eleven people, including two minors, have been presented to a judge, three imprisoned awaiting their trial and numerous police custody were in progress, according to a report from the Bobigny prosecution on Tuesday evening.

Tension remains high in the three municipalities shaken by the death of Jean-Paul, known as “JP”, a resident of the Beaudottes district, in Sevran, at the wheel of a van declared stolen.

During a vehicle check in Aulnay-sous-Bois around 12:30 p.m., “a police officer came up to the driver’s window and, in circumstances that remain to be determined, fired his weapon – a single shot – as the van suddenly started again”, traced Eric Mathais, the prosecutor of Bobigny. Seriously injured in the left shoulder blade, the driver died at the end of the afternoon in hospital. The autopsy confirmed that the shooting was the cause of death, Mr. Mathais reported on Tuesday.

According to the stories of residents met Monday by Agence France-Presse, “JP” was an independent delivery driver who worked for a provider of a parcel delivery platform. He had stolen the van because of a financial dispute between them.

The General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) was seized of the investigation. The policeman, 32 years old and hospitalized ” in a state of shock “must be heard as soon as his condition allows it, said the prosecution.
